ADOLESCENT INJURIES
Adolescent Injuries
With increase in participation of sports, children are obtaining more injuries and experiencing long term musculoskeletal health issues due to poor management of their injuries during childhood. Here at Physio Ready we will help your child reach their full potential by identifying the exact cause of their injuries and help optimally manage their injuries so that they are able to continue to participate in all physical activity with long term injury prevention.
Common adolescent conditions we see include:
- Osgood Schlatter’s disease
- Sever’s Disease
- Patellofemoral pain syndrome
- Shoulder instability
- Lower back pain
- Hypermobility issues
Adolescent injuries mostly arise during the growth spurt phases when a child is developing. During a sudden growth spurt a child will develop reduced flexibility, muscle tightness, and joint stiffness. This is because during growth spurts with increase in physical activity as the bone lengthens the muscles are not able to keep up with the rate of bone growth due to increase in muscle activity during these periods leading to loss of muscle flexibility. On the other hand, hypermobility can be an issue for a growing child as they may be lacking muscle development which leads to loss in stability of a joint and loss in power leading to poor biomechanics and increase in risk of injury.
Whatever the issue is, it is crucial that your child receives the appropriate treatment at the right stages of development, as risk of injury increases during these growth phases, which can have a long-lasting effect into adulthood. Our physiotherapists at Physio Ready will run through a detailed assessment to work out exactly what your child is experiencing and come up with a detailed treatment plan to help your child be free and active without pain. Just like finding a ghostwriter diplomarbeit (which means ghostwriter for a thesis in German) helps students manage their academic stress, the right support at the right time ensures your child’s physical development stays on track.
